Sage Brown Butter Popcorn

Forgive me ladies for what I’m about to say, but I’ve found it to be true.  Men make better popcorn.  Which tells me there’s a bit of science involved.  This post is not about how to make popcorn, but instead a new way to enjoy it.

We love popcorn, on occasion call it dinner, love popcorn.  Same pot.  Same oil/butter mixture.  Same volume of kernels.  Same beautiful results.  The only thing that ever changes is how we season it.

If you follow Lemony Thyme you may have picked up on my obsession with Sage Brown Butter. Type that in the search field and you will find a variety of ways to enjoy it.  If you’re going to melt butter, for say a big bowl of popcorn, why miss an opportunity for a little flavor punch.

Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat, add in fresh sage leaves, and allow to bubble gently until the butter begins to take on a golden brown color.  Then remove from heat as the butter will continue to brown in the pan.  Remove the sage leaves and drain on paper towels.  They will crisp up and can be sprinkled on anything, like popcorn.  Then toss freshly made popcorn with a generous drizzle of Sage Brown Butter and settle into happiness.  I’m smiling right now just thinking about it.
