Red, White & Blueberry Holiday Dessert Trifle

Red, White & Blueberries Dessert Trifle

Look how festive a few simple ingredients can become.  Red, White & Blueberry Holiday Dessert Trifle.

In a trifle bowl (or other high-sided clear glass bowl) layer the following:

  • Cake slices (such as angel food cake, pound cake, or red velvet cake)
  • Fresh berries (such as raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries)
  • Cream (such as cool whip, vanilla or white chocolate pudding)
  • And repeat.  Alternating berry and cake colors to create a red, white, and blue layered dessert.

Recipe note:  For a variation, spread berry preserves on your cake slices or soak them in something boozy like Chambord raspberry liqueur.  Individual single-serving Trifles can also be prepared in clear plastic cups, where using vanilla ice cream as a layer is a wonderful treat.

I finally made the squash casserole. My husband always said he didn’t like squash casserole and I never made it but I was determined because I love it, so I took a chance. He ate left overs for two nights and wants it again soon. Thanks for the recipe. I plan to make the red, white and blue trifle next. Looks yummy and I love trifles.

Yay Jean. I’m so glad you’ve brought your husband around. And I’m with him, I like it leftover as well as fresh from the oven.

This trifle is so yummy. The fresh berries are a real treat too. Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Libby
